Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor

This month we will be publishing letters sent to the editor of the Daily Tribune, a community paper serving Michigan's southeastern Oakland county. (Letters appeared previously in the Daily Tribune and are not the property of Suburban Underground or the OOW.)

Thank you for your editorial about AIDS. It explains that AIDS is not just a gay disease. Hundreds of poverty-stricken countries have it and they're not all gay.

I can only presume that the Berkley caller who attacks alcohol is unaware that it costs anywhere fromn 10 to 15 cents to manufacture a bottle of liquor, and it sells anywhere from $10 to $15, which is a lot higher tax rate than the cigarette tax.

One of the many good things Wal-Mart does is hire handicapped people.
-- Royal Oak

I want to know if the dancing gorilla and his wife can come back into our Clawson parade because it makes it so much more interesting for the kids.
-- Clawson

If Americans are allowed to have cars and airplanes then we are allowed to have mass transit.

I recently attended a christening at a local Catholic church. I was shocked by the sloppy dress of so many members - jeans, t-shirts, shorts, even one young lady baring her navel. Surely these people own at least one decent outfit they can wear to the Lord's house. Their attitude is far too casual, too disrespectful. It's a shame.
